Something From Nothing

Well I won't say I'm great but I'm good at pretending.
You pointed and laughed while my life was ending.
Now I'm dead inside with no hope of return,
to the man I once was, coming into this world
Well, I'm learning to cope with my hopes and regrets,
this pain in my heart from this weight on my chest.
Now I'm leaving town and I wont soon forget.
All the memories we've shared, and all the people I've met.
Well you can't get something from nothing
It's like trying to bleed a stone.
Well we've got no home so lets hit the road and make this life our own.
Sing me a song of compassion, teach me how not to be afraid.
Because I hate feeling like I'm the last one, that still wears a true honest face.
I need you to show me a way out of here,
Because I can't find a path that's not covered in glass.
I know that it's out there but I've been left behind
Now my feet bleed and I beg for the grass.
Well you can't get something from nothing
It's like trying to bleed a stone.
Well we've got no home so lets hit the road and make this life our own.

Foot In Mouth Disease

Oh pour that whiskey, light the gasoline.
Lay your eyes on something that you've never seen
Because the world is already burning hot,
and you belong to the flame whether you like it or not.
Roll the bones, throw the stones
This is the last act, of your show
You know they're gonna send you down below
To saw your fiddle with a broken bow.
Saw your fiddle with a broken bow.
You're a temptress, a devil in a red dress,
A mastermind behind a crime without a witness!
Your words are venomous,
but they sound so pulchritudinous.
Never did it sound so good to throw it all away.
All away.
I see that you're stressed out
(Foot inside your mouth)
Always just too loud
(Followed by rain clouds)
Kill mother nature
(A chase for the papers)
Spreading such hatred
(Between our neighbors)
Running and running burning and burning
getting too hot to keep propagating
Running and running burning and burning
getting too hot to keep propagating
Oh money on the table with a seven and two.
Everyone around has had enough of you
You got one more hand so you best behave
Or we'll send you down to your watery grave.
Out with the old, in with the new
Finally gonna finish what you said you'd do
Now we're bringing it back for the average home,
While you're sitting in the corner and growing old
Sitting in the corner and growing old.
You're a temptress, a devil in a red dress,
A mastermind behind a crime without a witness!
Your words are venomous,
but they sound so pulchritudinous.
Never did it sound so good to throw it all away.
All away.

Long Way Down

Well, I think that I've gone crazy
See my head's been such a mess.
I've got nothing in my pockets,
And I keep dead plants as pets.
When I see the sun it burns my eyes
because I haven't been out for days.
You ask me how I wound up here?
Just let me count the ways.
It might be one for the money and two for the liquor
I'm runnin through a jungle that keeps getting thicker.
I slip and fall but after all I guess it could be worse!
Because it's a long way down to the bottom of the pit we've been drinking ourselves in.
All the efforts we made for the short-lived pay goes to show you never can win.
And we can't seem to find no reason or rhyme why we should ever stop.
Been climbing this mountain for many years and I still can't see the top
So come on down!
I think I need another, to get me through the night.
Because every time I close my eyes my nightmares come alive!
I've got skeletons in my closet, monsters underneath my bed.
seems like nothing in this world could kill those voices in my head.
But it might be one for the money and two for the liquor
I'm runnin through a jungle that keeps getting thicker.
I slip and fall but after all I guess it could be worse!
Because it's a long way down to the bottom of the pit we've been drinking ourselves in.
All the efforts we made for the short-lived pay goes to show you never can win.
And we can't seem to find no reason or rhyme why we should ever stop.
Been climbing this mountain for many years and I still can't see the top
So come on down!

The Devil In Her Eyes
04:09

From accross the room, she gave me that look
From across the room, she got me shook
I can see it in her eyes, the devil in disguise
Now what she wants, she's gonna get
And once she's got it she wont let you forget
I can see it in her eyes, the devil in disguise
I should have known, right from the start
That a woman like her, is only out to break hearts
I can see it in her eyes, the devil in disguise
Well she has tempted me beyond all that i can resist
and her poisonous lips could end me with just one kiss
I've fallen for beauty projected by darkness below
I know what she is yet the attraction still grows
Her surreptitious intent is easy to see but she still has a hold on me!
From across the room, I gave her my heart
From across the room, she tore it apart
Well I can see it in her eyes, the devil in disguise
Well I can see it in her eyes, the devil in disguise

I got cigarettes and bus tickets on my mind, now I'm sitting on the corner till closing time, so I can busk my way to the end of the day
maybe make a little money on this street of mine
I've got no job and I've got no car but I've got a mandolin and an acoustic guitar
so I'll play some songs for you nice folks, standing right here on the side of the road
Chorus:
But I'm really not waiting for anything to go my way
because I've been to the bottom and back, still walking on the same track
Heading anywhere but where I'm from
because I've learned to make a home out of my scar tissue and broken bones and people that I hardly know
Verse 2:
Lately Ive been feeling a little to much that I might be down on my luck
The whiskey's been my only crutch but i guess its lost it's touch
I've made friends that last for an hour or two
but at the end of the night I'm still singing the blues
I got bloodshot eyes and a mouth so dry that I'm just begging for one more drink
Chorus
Bridge:
So I'll play my stage beneath the streetlights
I'l sing my heart out all night
break my strings, take my change tomorrow I'll do it again
because I'll still be broke and hungry
because I had to pay my rent
But in the end with you my friends, I guess that it was all time well spent
Chorus X2
